THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Older adult volunteers are needed to mentor kids while spending a little time in the garden. The Thomasville Community Resource Center's annual Grandpartners in the Garden program is underway.

Every Thursday, adults who are 55 or older team up with children to grow flowers, fruit, and vegetables. But the program needs more volunteers. "We have had to beg for seniors. We don't know where they are and we're looking for them to come out," said Social Director Jackie Hopkins.

After the seniors and kids are finished in the garden, they cook a lunch using the food they have grown. The event is every Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon. The last day to volunteer is July 21st. To sign up call 226-5846.
