SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - A promised $90 million movie studio in coastal Georgia is seeking a fresh start after a troubled first year.

Medient Studios broke ground on its 1,500-acre complex in Effingham County west of Savannah in August 2013, promising to create 1,000 jobs in five years. A year later, no buildings have been constructed. This summer the company fired its CEO. It also saw regulators temporarily suspend trading of its stock and reported a $14.6 million loss in its newest earnings report.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a police officer has been released from a hospital after being shot while responding to a domestic dispute in Clarke County.

Athens-Clarke County police said Senior Police Officer Michael Ward was wounded yesterday.

ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta police detectives are investigating the killing of a man inside a high-rise apartment building in midtown Atlanta.

Police say 21-year-old Brandon Michael Gibson was shot multiple times early Sunday morning at the SkyHouse Midtown apartments on West Peachtree Street near 12th Street.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. (AP) - Authorities have identified a deceased woman who was found floating in Lake Allatoona as a Marietta woman.

Officials late Sunday night identified the woman as 33-year-old Sheila Ann Carlotta.
