
Ashton is an award-winning journalist who is excited to spend the next couple of years in the Good Life City.
Within his first year of working at WALB, Ashton earned two Associated Press Awards. One was for Best Spot News Video for a police standoff that turned deadly in Moultrie and the other for Best use of Sound of a courtroom defendant who had to be restrained by using a motorcycle helmet.
Ashton started his career as an intern at WSB-TV in Atlanta.
He is a member of the National Association of Black Journalist and has won two awards from the Society of Professional Journalists.
Ashton graduated Cum Laude from West Virginia University with a BS in Broadcast News. While in Morgantown, he anchored and reported for his college news program "WVU News."
He is from the Atlanta suburb of Decatur.
In his spare time he likes to play basketball and lift weights.
