Cyclist charged with vehicular homicide

A Tifton man is now charged with vehicular homicide one year after his bicycle collided with a man riding a motorcycle.

Last July, 56-year-old Gary Brewer was traveling east on New River Church Road on a bicycle.

Troopers say he failed to yield, and crashed into 57-year-old Delano Nickelson, who was riding his motorcycle south on Highway 319.

Nickelson was killed instantly, Brewer was flown to a Macon hospital.

Troopers say Brewer was not wearing reflective clothing and was listening to a radio an earpiece.

He was charged with vehicular homicide in the second degree, and failure to yield at an intersection.
