There's encouraging news coming out of downtown Albany these days!! Albany's new downtown manager, Aaron Blair, recently made the announcement that several new businesses would be coming to the downtown area in the first quarter of 2011.

This, after a successful series of events to help kick off the New Year!

Two new businesses have already set up shop, Café' 230 and Expressations…and there are more to come!

Blair is also working to build on the success of the lunch crowd and improve the nightlife downtown. He is aggressively working to fill the vacant storefronts with "quality" businesses.

Aside from this promising news, it was good to hear that the New Year's activities were events for adults AND families! The events included music, fireworks, and family dining…

The Flint RiverQuarium, southwest Georgia's premier aquarium, is also seeing an increase in activity! After successful programming last year, the RiverQuarium will continue to offer specials during this new year.

The momentum is building and we are encouraged to see the Downtown Manager working to make our downtown an exciting place to be - year round!
