ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Remember playing musical sounds on water glasses? Now's your chance to see and hear classical music performed using water.
The Albany Symphony kicks off its concert series Saturday night at the Municipal Auditorium. The first concert will highlight a percussionist from the Atlanta Symphony who will play instruments that contain water, as well as using water as an instrument.
Conductor and director Claire Fox Hillard says if you've never seen the symphony in person, now's the time to experience it.
Hillard said, "I think it's the same phenomenon of going to a live football game, as watching it on TV. I think live music is much different than listening to CD's, particularly this water percussion piece is visual because you've got a person performing with water and you can get a little bit of that from a CD, but really being there and hearing music live is a totally different experience."
Saturday's concert will also include a remembrance of the 9/11 attacks. The concert begins at 7:30. Tickets range from $8 for students, up to $35.
