ALBANY, GA (WALB) – The Republican candidate for Agriculture commissioner also campaigned in south Georgia Thursday.

Gary Black says his experience sets him apart.

He operates a farm in Commerce and has served as president of the Georgia Agribusiness Council for 20-years.

"There is a clear choice I am the candidate in this race that has experience in Agriculture, I produce beef cattle. My entire career, for 29-years, I've been involved in many leadership capacities in Georgia and that sets me apart," said Gary Black, (R) Agriculture Commissioner Candidate.

Black says he wants to improve efficiency in the Ag Department. He'll face Democrat J.B. Powell and Libertarian Kevin Cherry in November.

The winner will replace retiring Commissioner Tommy Irvin who has held the office for 37-years.
