ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany State University honored community servants Thursday night while raising money to help students.

ASU hosted its first Community Service Award Banquet. It's a scholarship fundraiser. That money is certainly needed as the school expects record freshmen enrollment of about 1,100 this semester.

The community servants honored were SB&T President Mark Lane for his volunteer work and support of the university, along with ASU National Alumni Association President Davey Gibson who recently passed away.
