    Trying to tamp down concerns about government over-reach, President Barack Obama on Wednesday defended U.S. Internet and phone surveillance programs as narrowly targeted efforts that have saved lives and thwarted at least 50 terror threats.

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Nathan Deal, who faces a Tuesday run-off election with former Secretary of State Karen Handel, received several endorsements Wednesday.

At a news conference at the Merry Acres convention center, Deal announced endorsements from a U.S. Congressman, several county commission chairmen, state representatives and senators.

Tenth District U.S. Congressman Paul Broun through his support to Deal. Georgia Representatives Ed Rynders, Kay Powell, and Buddy Harden all signed on the Deal campaign,

Eleventh District Sate Senator John Bulloch gave his support, as did Dougherty County Commission Chairman Jeff Sinyard, Lee County Chairman Ed Duffy, Baker Co. Chairman T. E. Moye, and Crisp Co. Chairman Brad Faircloth.
