Cruises are about half full

Dolphin tour boat needs customers

Destin, FL - (WALB) -  Folks over in Destin tell us businesses are really hurting because tourists just aren't visiting.

Captain Steve Wilson, who operates Southern Star Dolphin Cruises was expecting a banner year... until the oil crisis.

Now, even though the waters around Destin are clear, he's had to cut cruises and lay off two workers.

"We took a pretty good hit last year with the recession, but this is devastating. This is off the scale. It's unprecedented. It's absolutely uncharted waters."

Wilson runs four dolphin cruises a day. He's down to two or three, and they're generally only half full.

He wants you to know Destin is oil-free and ready for visitors.
