VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) – As oil clings to wildlife in the gulf, a South Georgia organization is collecting donations to help rescue the seabirds.

The Filipino American Association of Southern Georgia in Valdosta is collecting money and supplies like detergent and towels, needed to help save the birds.

They'll take the supplies and money to the 'Save Our Seabirds' organization in Sarasota which will help rescue and rehabilitate birds.

"It breaks my heart seeing the seabirds covered in oil and just helpless I'm glad the Filipino American Association of Southern Georgia is getting so much support from the city and community," said Berna Edmonson, the president of the FAASG.

Donation boxes have been placed at businesses, Moody Air Force Base, and at the City of Valdosta departments.
