Small Business Appreciation Week schedule

SMALL BUSINESS APPRECIATION WEEK MAY 24 - 27 Monday, May 24 10 am - Salute to Small Business, Press Conference Government Center

Albany, GA - The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business Resource Committee is hosting activities to enhance the business atmosphere during Small Business Appreciation Week May 24-28. All activities are free for chamber members, and are open to the general public for a nominal fee.

Monday, May 24 - 10 am - Salute to Small Business Press Conference

Proclamation signing by Albany Mayor Dr. Willie Adams, and County Commission Chairman Jeff Sinyard.

Star Business of the Week presentation will be held immediately after the proclamation signing at the government center.

A "Drop In" event for small businesses to learn how to take advantage of their membership and get more information on the workshops and resources available throughout Small Business Appreciation Week. Everyone who comes by will be given two entries for a drawing at the end of the week for two-Business Spotlights from WALB, a ¼-page ad from the Albany Herald, and an Alarm System from Central Monitoring. With each additional event, attendees will receive another entry into the drawing.

Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday - 11 am - 2 pm - Business Resource Fair - Chamber Board Room

Information will be available from the GA Department of Labor, US Dept of Labor, The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center, Georgia Tech Procurement, Albany Community Together, Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission, and the Dougherty County Small Business Office. Tuesday & Wednesday the displays will be static and on Thursday there will be a representative from each agency to answer questions.

Tuesday - Noon - 1 pm - Social Media Workshop - Chamber Board Room

Megan Duke will be teaching attendees how to harness the power of social media and amp your presence to meet new challenges of this marketplace in a variety of ways. Leverage social media and grow your business by integrating a custom social media play that is useful and actionable.

Wednesday - Noon - 1 pm - Mastering Your Online Presence - Chamber Board Room

Glennette Goodbread of Premium Web Design will facilitate the event.

Thursday, May 27 - 7:30 am - 8:30 am - "SNL" Speed Networking & a Latte - Elements Downtown coffee

A fun, exciting and effective way to make a lot of initial connections in a different environment from the standard business networking events. Through the guidance of a facilitator, attendees introduce themselves, swap business cards, and chat about how each could help the other. After several minuets the attendees get up and move on to their next business connection. This truly is a great way to break-the-ice.
