First it was Douglas native, Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland fame, and now it's Leesburg's Luke Bryan! South Georgia continues to produce world-class talents in the music industry!
We are used to south Georgians doing well in the music biz; most notably Ray Charles and Ray Stevens, but the torch has been passed to this newest generation of young musicians, who are taking the country music industry by storm.
It was so heartwarming to hear Bryan send a "shout out" to his fellow Lee Countians, back at home in Georgia, during his acceptance speech at the recent Country Music Awards.
He received his first guitar at the age of fourteen and hasn't forgotten those who have been rooting for him and encouraging him throughout the years! As his father stated, he's about to really take off!
Grammy and CMA award-winning Nettles, who has appeared on Oprah, The Tonight Show, and Sesame Street continues to do South Georgia proud, as well.
Hopefully, both artists are serving as inspirations to those who have dreams, are willing to work towards reaching those dreams, and don't forget the amazing hometown fans who have encouraged and cheered them onto the world stage!
