ALBANY, GA (WALB) – One-third of the nation's children are overweight.

This week, first lady Michelle Obama took steps to change that statistic.

She kicked off Let's Move, a multi-year effort to get kids active and healthy.

The founder of Youth Becoming Healthy, an Albany project that has gotten national attention is thrilled about the first lady's initiative.

"I think the fact that she has launched her Let's Move Campaign will increase awareness, because she's going to get a lot of airtime. What I hope she does is reach out to grass root communities programs like YBH," said Pamela Green-Jackson, YBH Founder and CEO.

Sports and entertainment stars and food companies are all getting involved.

Mrs. Obama promised Washington will help with $10 billion for healthier school lunches and snacks in vending machines.
