Employees were given the option to have money taken directly from their paycheck to purchase supplies, then the hospital matched the donation.
Dr. Jeanphis Laguerre, who works at Colquitt Regional, grew up in Haiti, and has been in touch with the hospital in Port-Au-Prince, and another medical clinic in Leogane to determine what supplies are needed the most.
"Needed medical supplies, casting supplies, fluids, stuff you couldn't get over the counter at a drug store or anything like that," said Colquitt Regional Buyer Bernard Hill.
Dr. Laguerre says both facilities are not-for profit hospitals that do not have basic supplies.
The hospital hopes to ship out the supplies using the American Red Cross by the end of this week.
