This is the time of year that brings out the best in people, and, as we head into the holidays, we want to say thanks to all of you, who are so generous.
First, our hats are off to "HEART", a group of Procter and Gamble employees and retirees who collected money and bought brand new Nike tennis shoes for students at Turner Elementary School.
It was clear that the students and their parents were deeply grateful for the shoes, and that touched us all. The "Remaining Few" Motorcycle Club, again held its annual toy run.
The group collected more than nine thousand dollars to benefit the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots. The Leesburg Police Department and Sheriff's office teamed up to provide toys to foster kids and delivered a truck load of bikes, dolls and other toys.
And then there've been the many food drives. First Apostolic Church held a food giveaway where people lined up starting at 4 AM to get boxes of food.
The Foodbank of Southwest Georgia has given away tens of thousands of pounds of food this season, and many other groups have collected food for those in need.
And this year, the need is great. So, thank you! The generosity you show is what makes this season so special.
