2009 Outlook:    The Berrien County Rebels, lead by 2nd year Head Coach Ryan Branch, are looking to build on the early success they had during the 2008 season.  The Rebels started 3-6-1, their best start in years, but stumbled losing their last 6.  Berrien County got a chance to play a bunch of their underclassmen during the 2008 season and hoping that experience will help them this upcoming season.  The Rebels will try to reload after losing 15 seniors.  Coach Branch commented by saying, "We graduated a bunch of special young men, some of whom have started for 3 years or more, so you hate to lose that kind of leadership and experience.  But we are excited to see who is going to step up and become a leader and take control of this team."

The focus on defense is to replace seven starters.  Two key Seniors were Red West, who is going to play at the University of the Cumberlands (Kentucky), and Quaz Harris, who is going to play at Mars Hill (North Carolina).  The Rebels are returning some skill positions and they have experience in the secondary.  The Rebels must find some linebackers and they might have a couple good ones in some underclassmen.  Coach Branch said, "We understand how important linebackers are at the high school level and we are excited to see which kids come to the fore front and show they can do it every practice."

The main focus on offense is replacing All-Region quarterback Cameron Jones, who signed a football scholarship to Glenville State (West Virginia).  The Rebels also have to replace three offensive line starters.  Larry Greene and Kal Simmons are projected to battle for the quarterback job but the position is wide open.  "There is nobody that already has a position.  Every position is wide open and we hope to have great competition for every spot.  Competition brings out the best or worst in people and we hope to bring out their best", said Coach Branch.
