Monroe's streak of postseason appearances came to an end last year. The Tornadoes believe they can start a new one this season.
Monroe will have experience this season. Ten starters back on offense and eight are back on defense. Justin Pride is ready to lead the Tornado offense at quarterback.
Dominque Lumpkin is back after an injury last season and receiver-defensive end Larry Whitfield is going to be a star on both sides of the football.
Experience along will not win games in region 1-AAA but head coach Charles Truitt hopes it pays off in the second half of those key region games.
Charles Truitt said "We had a down year with injuries. All teams have injuries. We had our share of them. We are looking at getting back on that winning track. These kids are working hard. So, we feel confident we can do it."

The Monroe Tornadoes looked like a team with returning experience in their scrimmage with Albany High Thursday at Hugh Mills Stadium.
Monroe scored four touchdowns in the first half and one in the second to win 40-0.
It was the first game of any kind for Albany High interim head coach Felton Williams who was hired last month.
Monroe will try to keep the momentum going in their season opener August 27th at Kendrick High in Columbus.
