ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Finding a job can be a job within itself. It's an even more daunting task for people who are visually impaired.
Georgia Industries for the Blind, and the Albany Advocacy Resource Center are helping them get into the workforce.
A manufacturing operation of the Department of Labor recently expanded into Albany, giving some of its works their first paychecks ever.
Nine employees employees make as many as three thousand binders per day and the new facility.
"I think it's a great opportunity for the visually impaired, it's an opportunity for us to seek employment and just have things to do with our time," said Andrew Cook, Employee.
"Georgia Institute for the blind is set up for the visually impaired to provide jobs and opportunities for the handicapped as well," said Tony Meredith, Plant Maintenance GIB.
GIB is part of the Department of Labor and operates two other manufacturing and packing facilities in Bainbridge and Griffin.
