Bainbridge-- Thirty-four-year-old Richard Dennis Whitehead was arrested yesterday, charged with having sex 7 times with a seventeen-year-old student.
Police say friends saw what they thought were inappropriate text messages from the teacher on the girl's cell phone. They told her mother.
Monday, the mother went to Decatur County High School and took her daughter to the sheriff's office.
Investigators messaged the teacher and asked him to meet the girl at their usual spot. When he arrived, deputies arrested him.
Whitehead's bond is set at $35,000. He remains in jail.
