DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - The Atlanta Braves on Friday named Greg Walker their new hitting coach.
Walker lives in Douglas.
He has been the hitting coach for the Chicago White Sox for the last eight plus seasons.
The White Sox recently named Robin Ventura their manager after Ozzie Guillen left to take the same job at Florida.
During Walker's run as hitting coach from 2003-11, the White Sox were third in baseball in homeruns and 7th in slugging percentage.
Walker played at Coffee High and played nine years with the White Sox and Baltimore Orioles.
He succeeds Larry Parrish who was fired after the 2011 season.
