Fishermen can earn money and help hungry

CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

Fishermen can earn some big money Saturday while also helping the hungry. Fishermen for the Hungry hosts tournaments and donates to food banks around south Georgia.

Their Mega bass tournament has a guaranteed grand prize of 25-hundred dollars. The director says he has seen big differences in the twelve years of the tournaments.

"We've had people that were contributing to the Fishermen for the Hungry right now and to food banks that are now in the lines receiving the food from the food banks," said Dewey Mitchell, the Director of Fishermen for the Hungry. "And of course, visa-versa too. We've actually had people that we've helped and the food banks have helped that are now back on their feet and contributing to the food bank."

The mega bass tournament is Saturday at Lake Blackshear. It costs a 160-dollars per boat to enter.
