ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Westover Patriots are gunning for a region title this year and their defensive front is wanting to lead the way.
Westover High defensive tackle Chris Green is our WALB Albany Area Player of the Week.
Dr. Tim Darden presented Chris with his plaque Wednesday at the Orthopaedic Associates Clinic.
Chris made 11 tackles and sacked the quarterback twice in last week's win over Crisp County.
Green says the Patriots defense is wanting to make a statement this year.
Chris Green said. "We want to let people know we are not the old typical Westover that people see and mark as an easy win. We let them know we have worked hard since the season's end and that it is going to show on the field."
Westover can earn a share of first place with a win against Cairo Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Hugh Mills Stadium.
