VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Lowndes High Vikettes softball team needs one more win to return to the GHSA AAAAA state finals in Columbus.
Lowndes beat Kennesaw Mountain 3-1 in game one of their GHSA 2nd round series.
Kennesaw Mountain game back to win game 2 in 9 innings 9-6.
The two teams play at third and final game at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Morris-Coats Field of Dreams on the Lowndes campus.
Over in Douglas, Coffee High also won their first game.
Lady Trojans defeated North Cobb 7-4 but North Cobb won game 2 4-0.
Game 3 is Thursday in Douglas.
In AA, Cook dropped game 1 to Southeast Bulloch 5-2.
Lady Hornets win game 2 5-1 and game 3 is 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Adel.
In Class A, Seminole County is swept at home by Savannah Country Day 9-4 and 5-2 on a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 8th in game 2.
Miller County falls to Bryan County 2-1 and 8-1.
Telfair County rallies to beat Brookstone 9-8 in 8 innings to force a game 3.
Brookstone won the first game 4-3 with a single in the bottom of the 7th.
