Albany-Dougherty County Economic Development Commission board members got a look at the EDC's new website, choosealbany.com.

Designers say the site will answer frequently asked questions as well as show off what Albany-Dougherty County has to offer to businesses.

"Our new website is a 24-7 portal to the world, so it is important for us to have a website that is dynamic, that comprehensively represents our community from a quality of life perspective, recreation perspective and also industries," said Marketing Director Barbara Rivera Holmes.

One of the features that site designers say comes in handy is the user friendliness.

"You don't have to search our site, although it's very easy to find things, but it's right there on the front page. It makes it very easy for people to use," said Rivera Holmes.

Let's say you want to know workforce data for Albany-Dougherty County. All you have to do is click on workforce data on the homepage and within seconds you have all the information at your fingertips.

Expectations are high for the website, especially in uncertain economic times.

"Our ultimate goal is to expand industries and to grow jobs. We have to have our community well represented to do that," said Rivera Holmes.

A soft-launch for the website happened a couple of weeks ago, now Rivera Holmes says the commission will start actively promoting the site.

EDC members plan to meet with county and city commissioners to help promote the new site.

Barbara Rivera Holmes says all of the design for the site was done in-house, so all the pictures seen on the website were all taken here locally.
