ALBANY (WALB) - Six APD officers were promoted Tuesday night.

Police Chief John Proctor says the new leadership is moving the department in the right direction.

At a pinning ceremony at the Law Enforcement Center, Donald Frost was promoted to Deputy Chief.  Russell Barnes rose to rank of Major.  Kinshishi Adams was promoted to Lieutenant, Denise Barnes to Sergeant, Wendy Lester and Eddie Jones to Captain.

Jones' little boy gave his dad his new badge.

He said, "It was a wonderful experience. My father passed away when I was 5 years old, so having him pin me was very outstanding for me."

"I think the organization is starting to turn the corner. We're selecting leadership that understand what my direction is and that is to serve the community. I accept nothing less and these folks are ready to take this challenge," said Proctor.

The officers were given ethics cards to carry with them on duty to remind them of the standards they're expected to reach.
