The Lee County Sheriff's Department is now working with the Albany Crime stoppers. The Lee County Sheriff's Department asked to join the Albany Crime-stoppers program. The Sheriff's Department believes it will be a helpful tool in closing some cases.
A south Georgia college president is excited about his chance to help improve graduation rates at Georgia colleges.
Governor Nathan Deal appointed Albany Technical College President Dr. Anthony Parker to a 26-member commission that will examine how the state funds the University and Technical College Systems. Their job is to find ways to reward schools that find ways to help more students succeed.
"I think what we're going to do is look at ways to encourage students to do better in a shorter period of time so that they'll graduate go to work and be able to make a contribution to themselves and to their families," said Dr. Anthony Parker, Albany Technical College President.
The commission will have until December of next year to present their findings to the governor.
