The DOCO Regional Federal Credit Union donated a 2007 Pontiac to Darton College for Drivers Education Training.

Press Release

DOCO Regional Federal Credit Union has partnered with Darton College

to provide a vehicle to be used for drivers education instruction by the department of

Continuing Education and Economic Development. The donated vehicle is a 2007 Pontiac G-

6. DOCO Regional FCU president and CEO, Barry Heape, states, "We are happy to help

support Darton's drivers ed program and make an impact on the safety of our community.

And, since participants of drivers ed programs often qualify to receive discounts such as

reduced rates on insurance and other services, participation in the program also provides

financial benefits."

DOCO Regional FCU has supported Darton College's drivers education program since

its inception and previously donated a Nissan Altima in 2007. According to Michael White,

Director of Continuing Education and Economic Development at Darton College, drivers

education vehicles must meet certain safety and code requirements including the year model

being no more than 10 years old, installation of an extra brake pedal that is operational from

the instructor's seat, and the installation of an additional rear-view mirror to enhance visibility

from the instructor's seat. Code requirements are set by the Georgia Department of Driver

Services and are aimed at insuring the safety of student drivers and instructors.
