Residents of an Albany Nursing home took part in a walk to raise money for research to end Alzheimer's.

Dozens of people at Albany Health Care walked in the Jackson Street and Third Avenue area Friday morning,  to raise money and awareness about Alzheimer's. They can't take part in Saturday's city wide Walk to End Alzheimer's, so they held their own today.

Albany Health Care Activity Director Martha Hale said "Our residents have typically been involved in the community throughout their lives. Just because now they are in a facility where they are not as able to do that, they still want to help."

The Albany Health Care residents raised two thousand dollars for Alzheimer's research. The city wide Walk to End Azheimer's will be held Saturday at Turtle Park.
