Judge denies money in Stocking Strangler case

Posted: Updated:

A federal judge in Columbus denied a defense request for more money for a DNA expert for

convicted Stocking Strangler Carlton Gary.

Gary was sentenced to die for three of seven rapes and murders of women in Columbus in the late 70's.

He was captured in Albany in 1984.

His lawyer requested $3,500.00 to pay a consultant to analyze evidence, but the judge ruled the federal court won't pay for state proceedings.

Gary has exhausted federal appeals but can get federal funding for clemency hearings.
