EARLY COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

A new shooting and gun training center is now open in South Georgia.

The American International Marksmanship Academy is celebrating its grand opening right now in Blakely. There will be a concert tonight.

People are also taking tours of the 23-hundred acre operation which includes an archery center. More than 20 gun ranges, and a 9-acre pond.

Actor and gun rights advocate Marshall Teague was there for the celebration.

I was asked by friends, people who were designing this tactical center. And what most people don't know is in my background; I'm retired Navy and a former Deputy Sheriff.  I am a firearms instructor and I've been doing that my whole life.

The Early County Commission authorized a 250-thousand dollar loan to help AIM build the center which is still under construction.

They say it will create several dozen jobs. Aim says the center will offer real-world training for military.

Law enforcement, and civilians and will host competitive events sponsored by the National Rifle Association.
