Georgia's gun carrying license is getting a new look.

Cook County Probate Judge Chase Daughtrey showed us the sample licenses. It's a photo Id with an electronic signature. The old one looked like this a laminated card with a fingerprint and a court seal. Daughtrey says the new one looks more professional.

He says the turnaround time won't be different, but when you apply you'll have to get your photo taken at the courthouse.

You'll still have to be fingerprinted, but that won't show up the new license. There's also a barcode on the back.

"There's some long term goals in terms of the barcode on the back," said Judge Daughtrey. "We're going to get some databases synchronized in the future where law enforcement agencies can use the serial number on that barcode to ascertain criminal information and mental health information."

The changes take effect until January 1.
