VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - With just four games left in the regular season,
Valdosta State has finally hit their Gulf South Conference schedule.
Two of those teams meet Saturday in Valdosta when the 12th ranked Blazers host 22nd ranked West Alabama.
Four of the five GSC schools are ranked in the top 25 in the nation.
Both of these teams have 5-1 records.
VSU head coach David Dean says senior Austen Roberts will start at quarterback if healthy.
Sophomore Cayden Cochran relieved an injured Roberts last week and threw for over 400 yards and 4 touchdowns against Ouachita Baptist.
Cochran will get most of the first team work at practice this week and coach Dean will make the final decision on who gets the start on Saturday.
Head coach David Dean said "If Cayden is putting up those kind of numbers and providing that type of spark for our offense. It hard to pull a guy out that putting up those kind of numbers and leading us down the field like he is.
Quarterback Cayden Cochran said. "It's a good opportunity to be out there with the first guys and I'm excited about it. Its going to be a good week and we'll see what we can do on Saturday."
Valdosta State celebrates homecoming Saturday at 3:00 p.m. against West Alabama.
