ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Monroe's win over Worth County last week didn't just help the Tornadoes playoff chances. The Patriots had a chance to sit back and watch their region rivals do battle during an open week last week.
It was also a boost for Westover.
Westover is back in action Friday at home against Crisp County.
Crisp County and Cairo right now are both unbeaten in region play.
Westover and Americus-Sumter are a game out of first with one region loss.
The Patriots will play the other three games in the final four weeks of the season.
That means Westover has their own fate in their own hands.
Westover head coach Octavia Jones said. "It is simple for us. The only thing we have to do is win out. We control our own destiny. We have the opportunity to be region champions. That was our goal at the beginning of the season and that is our goal now. We have got Crisp County on Friday. We are taking it one game at a time and we will see how it goes from there."
Crisp County plays at Westover at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hugh Mills Stadium.
