The Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau has a new interim director.
Former Welcome Center manager Rashelle Beasley was appointed to the job Wednesday.
She helped the CVB open the Visitors Information Center at the Bridge House. She says she's working with Albany State University to promote homecoming weekend, which has a huge economic impact on the city, and is preparing for the marathon in March.
"We are strongly working on the marathon right now, this is our peak season to start the marathon rolling and we are getting registrations on a daily basis and now is the time that we need to really focus on the marathon, there's a lot of things that go into planning the marathon and we just have to move forward," said Rashelle Beasley, new interim CVB Director.
Beasley said she's working to bring motor coach tours to town focusing on Albany as the home of Sherwood's movies and Paula Dean. Last month, Chamber Director Catherine Glover's said she would take over the CVB job after she fired Lisa Riddle.
