SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - In baseball or softball, teams want to be strong up the middle.
Twin sisters Haley and Heather Ellis have been a rock for the Worth County Lady Rams softball team for the last four seasons.
Haley Ellis is the Lady Rams catcher and Heather Ellis has been the starting shortstop for the last four years.
These two sisters also hold most of the Lady Ram hitting records including homeruns and rbis.
With fellow seniors Kimmy Lee, Faith Jones, Lauren Potts and Kaitlyn Parton, Worth County has won more than 90 games in the last four years and went to the state finals two years ago.
The Ellis sisters will remain teammates next year when they sign to play at Armstrong Atlantic University next month.
They love the family competition of who can out do the other at the plate.
Haley Ellis said. "Last year she used to hit behind me. I would hit a homerun. She would get up a bat and hit a back to back shot. This year I hit after her. It is really competitive between us two. "
And does it make a difference which sister hits ahead of the other?
Haley Ellis said. "No, not really. You get the same results either way."
Worth County Lady Rams will host Mary Persons in the first round of the GHSA AAA state softball tournament in Sylvester.
