Investigation continues into fatal fire

Police in Valdosta are investigating the weekend fire that killed three children and say charges could be filed.

Commander Brian Childress says investigators retrieved evidence and sent it to the GBI crime lab.

He won't say what the evidence is but since there was a loss of life, police are doing a criminal investigation.

5-year old Amarion Hollis, 4-year old Amari Hollis, and infant Juan Anderson died Saturday morning.

"It'd be way too early to say yes we're filling charges when we don't have all our evidence back and we've not talked a with the fire department yet and we've not talked with the district attorney's office yet," said Childress. "All of that will take place before we file charges."

Investigators say unattended food left cooking on the stove started the fire in the North Forrest Street home.

There were no smoke detectors in the home.
