Suspect in custody for Cordele murder

CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

Tamiko Taylor is grieving.

"It's sad, you know? Like I said, It's really, really sad," said Taylor.

Her sister's boyfriend, 30-year-old Travis Sintell Shivers, was gunned down Saturday night outside his Cordele apartment.

Shivers not only left behind a girlfriend, but young children as well.

"He was the father of four kids. His youngest son was only eight months. So it's such a tragedy that his youngest baby will never, ever have the opportunity of knowing who his father was," said Taylor.

Police have 22-year-old Varocus Antonio Grant in custody.

He turned himself in early Sunday morning.

Grant is charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigators aren't talking about a possible motive.

Taylor just hopes her family can recover from this especially for the kids' sake.

"There's nothing you can do about it. You just have to just pick up the pieces and continue to keep moving forward as best as we can," said Taylor.
