THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A 54-year tradition event returns to Thomasville this week with plenty of greasy food, demolition excitement, and midway fun.

The annual Deep South Fair runs Tuesday through Saturday at the Thomasville Exchange Fairgrounds.

Tuesday and Thursday are Demolition Derby days. Wednesday and Saturday are Chehaw Park days and Saturday is Kids Day. "It's a major ordeal every year. Getting things prepped, getting the facility cleaned up, things prepared. So it's a pretty ongoing thing, but every year we accomplish it," said Fair Manager Sam Harnevious.

Modern Midways is in charge of the rides and promises one new ride and a remodeled Ferris wheel.

Gates open Tuesday at 5:30.
