ALBANY, GA (WALB) - For almost ten years, Albany's Jason Willcox has run, bicycled and swam hundreds and hundreds of miles with the dream of one day qualifying for the World Ironman Championships.
That dream will be realized for Jason when leaves next week for Hawaii.
On Wednesday, his family and friends held a surprise party to wish Jason the best of luck in the championships.
You don't just sign up for the World Ironman Championships.
You have to earn your way into the prestigious field.
Jason did that by finishing second in the Ironman Florida competition last year.
Jason says he is excited about the race and this party is a great way to send him to Hawaii.
Jason Willcox said. "It is going to be very different from any course I have ever done due to the hills. We just don't have the type of hills and terrain they have."
The World Ironman Championships are October 8th.
