VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - 4th ranked Valdosta State is ready for an air raid this weekend at Arkansas Monticello.
VSU fans know the term air raid means the Blazer football team flies out of Valdosta the morning of the game.
Plays the game and flies back the same night.
Head coach David Dean says coaches prefer to have their team together the night before a game.
He would rather fly the day of the game than to have to ride a bus for three to four days.
This is the last year VSU will play the now former Arkansas members of the Gulf South Conference.
Though VSU will continue air raids in the future, an era of sorts comes to an end with next week's game at Ouachita Baptist.
Head coach David Dean said. "We have been successful with it. We have had some troubles with it playing a few times. For the most part this is the best way for Valdosta State to travel. It is what we have always done and we are going to continue to do it."
Game time is 7:00 p.m. Saturday in Arkansas, Monticello.
