It's an all too common story these days as yet another college football player found himself behind bars but this time it's one of South Georgia's own. Former Lowndes Viking and now Florida State corner back Greg Reid was arrested in Tallahassee around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning on charges of perjury and resisting arrest without violence.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that authorities pulled over Reid's friend Rontrel Frazier who was driving Reid's scooter alone but Frazier fled from police. Authorities then went to Reid's home where he gave them the wrong name for Frazier and also said he hadn't spoken to him. Police say text messages indicated that two had been in contact throughout the night in regards to the incident with the scooter.
Reid's attorney has since spoken out saying the prosecutors office quote "recognizes there were problems with the case" close quote. He went on to say that he was "puzzled" by the arrest and that charges may soon be dropped.
Reid was then arrested and released on $1,000 bond shortly after being booked. Both charges are misdemeanors. No word on his status with the team.
