Fitzgerald pulls away from Albany

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -   The Albany High Indians were staying with Fitzgerald for a half.

The second half was all Purple.

The Purple Hurricanes score five unanswered touchdowns and beat the Indians 56-21 in the region 1-AA opener for both teams.

Albany High scored on three possessions in the first half but the Purple Hurricanes matched them to forge a tie at halftime.

Fitzgerald opened the second half with a four yard touchdown run by Tolerance Shepherd to give them a 28-21 lead.

Albany High was driving but a big hit by the Purple Hurricane defense forced a fumble.

The Purple Hurricanes recovered a two plays later Scottie Griffin ran 63 yards for a touchdown to give Fitzgerald a 14 point lead.

Albany High is 3-2, 0-1 and Fitzgerald is 4-1, 1-0 in region play.
