JAKINS, GA (WALB) - Nearly two months after the Postal Service released of list of 36,000 post offices it wants to close, people in dozens of Georgia towns are waiting for word about their post offices.
45 Georgia post offices are on the list. Two of them are in Early County. This one in Jakin and the one in Cedar Springs.
One man who uses this post off frequently says it would be a big hassle to go elsewhere.
"It would be an inconvenience because this is the only way we get mail right now," said Bradley Crews. "We prefer the security of having a lock and key here."
If the Jakin facility closes, the closest post office would be about eight miles away in Donalsonville.
The Bluffton post office in Clay County near the Early County line is also being reviewed for closure.
