Students learn about Holocaust

Middle schools all over the state of Georgia will learn about the Holocaust in a new way.

The Jewish Claims Conference and Georgia Department of Education is funding the Holocaust Learning Trunk Project.

Lee County Middle School is the 1st to receive a learning trunk which is filled with educational materials on the Holocaust.

Teachers will use these trunks filled with books and D-V-D's to teach about World War II, the Holocaust, and genocide.

"We really teach about how to not be a bystander, how to stand up for what is right, how to be a good citizen and we use the lessons of the Holocaust to teach these students," says Viki Staley, Georgia Commission of Holocaust Exec. Director.

33 trunks will be used in the state of Georgia.
