It was a game filled with emotion and dramatics and it all came down to a late interception as Valdosta St. slipped by Albany St. 30-27 this weekend. VSU kicker Daniel Anderson hit a 43 yard field goal with minutes left that was eventually the game winner. Monday Anderson was crowned the Gulf South Conference special teams player of the week for that field goal and two others in the game.
In addition, Blazer linebacker Chris Pope has been named the conference defensive player of the week. The sophomore led all players with nine tackles headlined by three solo stops and one tackle for a loss. He is the second consecutive VSU linebacker to win the award after Ryan Smith won it last week.
