A fire that started Thursday night at a Mitchell County ethanol plant continues to smolder in one of the dry grain silos.
Four fire units battled a fire at the FUEL Ethanol Plant in Pelham. The fire was spotted around 8:30 Thursday night after crews spent the day dealing with a mechanical issue within the dome of the silo.
Firefighters were able to use a thermal imaging camera to see the fire got as hot as 270º. They were able to cool it down overnight but it flared up again this morning.
The is the same area where a fire erupted August eighth. The plant resumed operations Friday after being shut down for maintenance.
