ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A great south Georgia rivalry will be renewed tomorrow night when Albany State hosts Valdosta State.
It was Albany State's decision to end the rivalry after the 2007 game.
The two teams are playing this year more out of desperation.
Albany State needed a game to fill out their schedule.
Valdosta State lost a game when Lambuth closed their doors over the summer.
Both coaches believe returning this game to the schedule helps both schools in a number of ways.
VSU head coach David Dean said. "It is a great atmosphere for the fans, the players and for the coaches. It is just a great rivalry game. It beats you know next year we are looking going to Michigan and going to Texas and different places like that. I would sure rather go an hour away to play a football game.
ASU head coach Mike White said. "The schedule kind of worked its way out for us to play each other. When at the beginning of the season, that was not meant to be. It is always a good matchup. Valdosta and Albany State what can you say."
The two teams will not play each other next year due to their schedules but they are talking about playing again in 2013.
