Marine Base contractors get Big Fines

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined three contractors for violations at the Marine Corps Logistics Base.

OSHA announced penalties of nearly $190,000 after citing Piedmont Mechanical, Jim Boyd Construction, and Chevron Energy Solutions

with three willful and eight serious safety violations.

It follows an inspection that started in March when the boom tip of a crane contacted an overhead power line during the installation of a new landfill gas processing and compression facility.

One employee was shocked.

OSHA also cited all three companies for safety violations involving trenching and excavation at the site.
