John Michael Silvey, a 23-year-old registered sex offender from Arkansas, is being sought in Florida, after apparently stealing a 2004 Buick Ranier and a wallet in Dougherty County.

Law enforcement officials say that Silvey escaped from an Arkansas police car Saturday, and made his way to Georgia. He apparently stole gas in Terrell County while he was driving a 1998 Chevy Pickup truck.

Terrell County deputies chased him in to Dougherty County, but lost his trail.

Sunday, the truck was found in some woods, and a Buick Ranier SUV was reported stolen from a home in the Birchwood area of western Dougherty County.

The SUV belongs to Larry Ensinger of Early County. The vehicle was located at the home of his son, Jon.

The keys were in the vehicle, as was Jon Ensinger's wallet, containing credit cards.

One of those credit cards was used in Tampa, Florida Monday.
